Bio: |
Hi, my name is Margaret Allen. I attended the High School for Health Professions where I was introduced to various fields of health careers. It was there that I found my passion for dentistry and enrolled in dental assisting. I began working as a dental assistant when I was in the eleventh grade. After graduation, I enrolled at the University of Houston where I majored in biology. I completed four years there and then moved on to the University of Texas Health Science Center where I received my degree in dental hygiene. I began working and absolutely loved my profession. Soon thereafter, I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a dentist. I graduated in May 1995 from Howard University College of Dentistry and began practicing dentistry with a group practice. I was there for several years before deciding to branch out on my own (During that time, I also taught dental assistants at the Astrodome Dental Career Center). I then opened a private practice- "Amazing Smiles, PLLC." My advanced studies include non-extraction orthodontics, Dawson philosophy in cosmetic dentistry, and a preceptorship on implants. I have volunteered with a youth summer program for several years. I educate and introduce dentistry as a career, and also perform basic dental treatment. I am a part-time instructor for dental assistants and I serve on the board of directors for ADCC (Astrodome Dental Career Center). I am also a member of TDA (Texas Dental Association) and Charles A. George Dental Society. When I"m not working, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, Myah Elizabeth, reading, shopping, traveling, and eating. |
